The Victoria Seals are an expansion team within the Golden Baseball League, and will play 44 home games this year in Victoria's Royal Athletic Park. The Golden Baseball League 2008 championship was won by the Orange County Flyers, managed by MLB Hall-Of-Famer Gary Carter. Looking ahead to the 2009 campaign, teams will play an 88-game schedule, not including playoffs, from May through August. he Seals' owners are the Parker family, who bring over 40 years of professional sports ownership and management experience to the team. Their first foray into professional baseball was in 1977. Since then they have gone on to own and operate the Calgary Cannons of the Pacific Coast League from 1985 – 2002. They are the current owners of the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League. Over one million fans have attended GBL games over the past three seasons!

About the Golden Baseball League

The Golden Baseball League is dedicated to developing professional independent baseball in western North America. Now five years old, the GBL plays in a combination of city and University-owned stadiums and work in collaboration with their communities to market professional baseball. The GBL provides a supportive opportunity for players and coaches to sign with Major League Baseball organizations. To date, 80 GBL players have gone on to sign MLB contracts.
